Question My question is this, i was baptized in the name of the father son and holy ghost, but my brother-n-law says i was not baptized correctly because i was supposed to be baptized in the name of Jesus... I want to know which is the correct way or are they both correct.... this has really been bothering me... i just want to make sure i am baptized correctly.
Thank you for your time
Answer I assume he was saying in Jesus name only ,if that assumption is correct he is incorrect and more importantly the faith that teaches this promotes false teachings,Jesus said this:
(Matthew 28:19) . . .Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit. . .
What this is saying is the father is Jehovah, the Son is Jesus and the holy spirit is Jehovah's force to accomplish his will
(Genesis 1:2) . . .Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God’s active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters. . .
active force (spirit Heb., were´ach,Besides being translated “spirit,” ru´ach is also translated “wind.
You used the word holy ghost as if this is a third part of the composition of God which is also false,Jehovah is alone God and there is no other Almighty God there can only be one.
(Isaiah 45:6) . . .. I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.
The question you should now wonder is I'm I in the correct religion that teaches what Jesus taught, and the answer is no as I have learned form Jehovah's Witnesses.
Just one final thought ,the religion you are in teaches 3 gods in one but I just showed you there is only one God,think about this if the holy spirit is also Almighty why is it not even mentioned in the 2 following passages:
(John 1:1) . . .In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.
This is from the New World Translation of Jehovah's Witnesses the KJV reads this:
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The holy spirit is not mentioned as a third part of God just the father who is Jehovah and the son Jesus. also notice:
(Acts 7:55-56) . . ., gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand, 56 and he said: “Look! I behold the heavens opened up and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand.”. . .
This verse shows after being stoned Stephen looked into heaven in a vision and saw God Jehovah and Jesus the son ,again the holy spirit is not mentioned,God himself is a spirit and he is holy
angels and also spirits and also holy so nothing differentiates the other holy spirits from the teaching that there is a holy spirit that is also God,this is just another false teaching that I have come to learn that the churches are promoting, just like your brother in law believes one should be baptized in just Jesus name only which some religions does teach but the scriptures and clear as I showed you.
Does God approve of false teachings? the answer is no since he is a God of truth he would never approve of a religion that teaches in effect lies.
(2 Corinthians 11:13) . . .For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
And as for false teachers :
(2 Corinthians 11:14-15) . . .And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.
(2 Peter 2:1) . . .as there will also be false teachers among YOU.. . .
So he is aware of false teachings and since it's recorded in scripture to beware
of false teachings then he is not pleased and hence the religion is not approved by him.
I know you didn't expect all of this but I had to explain just what was my reason for answering
the way I did,I couldn't just say you are correct as the scripture indicates but I had to give the reason why your religious teachings themselves are incorrect.
