Question
I was born a catholic and have been my whole life,but my good friend is pentecostal. I visited her church and had a great time. I really liked it.Their was more going on with singing and almost like people were having a lot more fun opposed to my church where you have to say this at this time and then you sing and then you recite something.Not boring but just not getting involved as much. Can you help me with the differences between the 2 faiths, is it okay for me to go there and my church. Also if I were to get baptized into her church do you automatically start speaking in tongues? Any insight you can give me would be a lot of help? Thanks for your time.

steve

Answer
Steve, Thanks for asking me the question

The singing and getting involved that you say in Pentecostal church was part of WORSHIP.

Now coming to point here is the  few diff that I want to highlight and I hope the spirit will help you to understand more.

* Membership by water baptism.
The bible say in Mark 16:16 that Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved
SO if you get baptised without believing, its of NO USE AT ALL. How can a child who is getting baptised , who cannot even recognize his/her parents,know who is the Saviour,how can he understand what Jesus did for his life.
An adult who understands that (1) he is a sinner, (2) needs a saviour (3) Jesus led a sinless life 4)Jesus was Sent by God for the mankind ,read John 3:16 (5) Jesus died for HIS sin on the cross (6)The death of Jesus was an sacrifice for
man kind (7) he died and rise upon third day. (8)The he/she will hence forth ACCEPTS Jesus as HIS PERSONAL saviour (9) Now onwards will live according to what Jesus taught and what apostle wrote . The he/she can be BAPTISED.
Then salvation is yours.

* Sprinkling of water for Baptism.
The word Baptism means IMMERSED in water. And most important think Jesus himself showed us how to get Baptised. Sprinkling of water is not accepted as baptism.

* Mediators.
Bible clearly say JESUS CHRIST, OUR ONLY MEDIATOR AND REDEEMER

I Timothy 2.5   “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,  the man Christ Jesus.”

So praying to saints or Mother Mary is Unbiblical.

Steve, I want you to start reading a NIV bible. start reading from Mathew.
There are several more difference but to start with its important that you understand what i mentioned above.

I would be more than willing to write you.so please start reading the bible and ask me more and more question.

Its not a coincidence that you wrote to me. Jesus loves you and he wants you to follow the truth.

God bless you..

With prayers
