Peoplesoft - PS 7.01 password policies

Expert: Peter Choi - 8/17/2009

Question
Hi there, auditors are requesting screen shots of password setup panels that define password length, aging, etc. I find nothing anywhere in our old version of PS (7.01). I am under the impression that password length for this version is determined by Oracle. I am aware that is a Set Password option at the logon screen however. Are you aware of any aging options, password length options, etc.?

thank you

Answer
Hi Julie,

PeopleSoft 7.x does not contain the ability to predetermine the password length, strength or aging. Starting with PeopleSoft 8.x, Oracle has introduced the ability to define and age passwords. The latest version of PeopleSoft is 9.0 (8.9 is still in use) along with PeopleTools 8.49. PeopleTools 8.5 is expected to be released shortly.

Hope this helps.

Peter
