Subject: Self Directed IRA

Question
Can I set up a self directed IRA and use the funds to make real estate loans? Money from the fund would be loaned short term and principle and interest would be returned to the fund.
Thank you,
Lee

Answer
Hi. Investing in direct real estate through an IRA is allowable, but complex. Since this is too complicated to discuss in a forum such as this, I would search online for more information or discuss this with a qualified CPA. Sorry I could not be of further assistance.
