Personal Investment & Financial Planning Q`s - Deferred Coimpensation

Expert: John D Smith, CFP - 5/19/2009

Question
Currently taking monthly paymeents from my deferred comp.  I'm not happy with the earnings.  Can I roll this over, without a tax hit, into an annuity?  Don't know much about financial things and would like to try to get a better return on the moeny in this fund. Nkotl sure if an annluity would be appropriate. Thanks

Answer
Whether or not you can roll the deferred comp over depends on how the plan is written. You should check with the benefits dept of your prior company and then can clarify. If you can roll a portion over then let me know and I can answer questions in regards to other ways to invest. thanks!
