AboutJohn D Smith, CFP Expertise I can answer detailed questions regarding mutual fund investing, retirement planning, education planning and related financial planning/investment issues. I am also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and have performed fee only investment management and financial planning services for the past 11 years.
Question Mr. Smith,
First I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read this question. My question is what bachelor's degree should I pursue business finance or business accounting? I am three months from completing my associates degree in business and I need to know what bachelors degree would hold more value. My career goal is either to work my way to a CFO position or financial analyst. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
Answer Hi. If you desire is to pursue a CFP position or analyst position them I would pursue the business finance vs accounting degree. AS you start your career, you may then find that pursuing specific desigations such as the CFA (for financial analyst) or obtaining a further degree in other specific areas of finance makes sense. I hope this helps and good luck!
