Personal Investment & Financial Planning Q`s - net worth

Expert: John D Smith, CFP - 6/2/2009

Question
I am trying to complete a FAFSA application for my daughter who has just finished her first year of college. I am very confused as to how to calculate the net worth for her and my husband and me. Can you help me?

Answer
hi. Net worth is the total value of everything you own (house, car, bank or investment accounts, company retirement plans, IRA's, etc) less the total of everthing you owe (home mortgage, car loans, credit card balances, other outstanding debt, etc). I hope this helps!
