QUESTION: Bruce,

I hate to be a stickler, but can you cite this?  Because I've been getting various opinions and the IRS.GOV website seems to make it seems that I can only satisfy RMD from a 403(b) with a 403(b) withdrawal.

Thanks!

Answer
Tim on page 33 of 46 of Pub 575 they come closest to helping us out here, but using the IRA might NOT work you are right to be unsure.

Roll the 403b into your IRA to be absolutely sure to have to make the MRD :)

No, assuming you don't want to make MRD, I am not certain what to tell you. Most likely help - Ed Slott is a big IRA person. Also the custodian of either your 403b or IRA might step in here.

Either account can delay the MRD from 2009 thanks to Pres Obama

Sorry not more help; you have a tough one
