Question You ever get stuck in the weeds? Two months ago in the span of two weeks, I was mugged, my apartment was taken by new landlords who increased my rent by 32%, I was fired without cause (legal to do in Maryland) and she is withholding my last paycheck (illegal). Before it all happened, I was current with my bills, was paying off back rent from being laid off previously, and doing well.
I immediately found a new job as a temp - consistent work ever since. I also do freelance writing and graphics on the side.
My new landlords have blindsided me and want everything I owe within 10 days. On top of that, I need to pay my current rent. And I obviously want to move, but need to find a way to have a security deposit for a new apartment.
My thought was trying to get a personal loan of $5,000, offering me a chance to collect my current pay, have my rent in arrears paid, my current month paid, and a security deposit and first month's rent paid. Then I will be current in everything and can be back on track and have this additional loan to pay off - which I can do (when I'm not catching up on all I've been hit with). Make sense?
I do have bad credit history. I'm absolutely positive. I was able to buy a car four years ago, but I haven't attempted to get a credit card or anything because I have had many late payments on my car.
I want to try to get a loan myself before asking for a co-signer. Do I have a chance? Bad luck has assailed me!
Answer I'm afraid I'm going to be one more patch of crab grass. Most lenders don't like "temporary" employers, even if the work has been consistent. Additionally, if you have credit issues, that will make it more difficult. At this point you can try on you own, and then if you're declined- ask if a co-signer will help. Don't go to a shady finance or loan company and make the situation worse--
Sorry I couldn't offer a light at the end of the tunnel.
