I have seen several of this insect in my newly renovated room. I live very close to a mountain with lots of trees and very high humidity. Could this be bettle or cockroach or something else? Thanks.

Answer
Valerie,

This looks like a beetle but I can't see enough detail to id further. Can you get a picture that shows the back more clearly (lighter)? I'd be glad to take another look. Also, tell me where you are (city, state, country) which will help with the id.
