Pest Control/Tiny caterpillar like insects found in my house

In what part of the world you your live? In many parts of North America and Western Europe, there is a type of moth larvae called the "Case-Bearing Clothes Moth Larvae." This type of larvae secretes silk and uses the silk to create its own home by assembling pieces of dirt and dust.

There are many other types of silk-producing larvae, but until we know your location, it's hard to make a guess.

I hope this helps.

I came across the same thing today in work, exactly same as you describe, they were falling from ceiling on silk threads, loads of them, look like tiny black caterpillars!! lemme know what they are if you know!

hi,I had them too. I also left my doors open and soon noticed a black  smug on my ceiling. upon closer inspection it was a nest of newly hatched tiny black caterpillars. they crawled like inch worms with heads simular to that of a fly. found another (older) nest  and in comparison, the caterpillars were about 1mm and spreading out. the nest looks like a lice nest.  eggs laid in a circular pattern.

I experience the same problem bluelady described.  They did not appear to be the Case-Bearing Clothes Moth Larvae described earlier. Is there an answer on what they are.

Sounds like the carpet beatle larvea. They can come from outside or could have been nesting in ,cavity walls eves or attic. they can nest and inhabit old birds nest and or wasp nest etc. Google carpet beatle for picture of both the beetle and its should beable to identify them your self. hope this helps
