Pet Rats/Kyara's eye

My tan female dumbo rat named Kyara(only 8-9months old) has a small cloudy spot on her eye. Shes not acting irritated about it she blinks every now and then with it but that is it. I do use aspen bedding so it could have gotten poked but I'm unsure. Any idea what I should do?

Dear Samantha,

Only a vet can tell you for sure what it is. It is most likely from a scratch or a cataract; in any case it very likely won't go away,  but will not affect her sight; or, rather, it will affect her sight but not affect her.  A cataract may be an early sign of diabetes, which a vet can test for.

A vet can also give you medicated eye drops to make sure it isn't or doesn't get infected. It is always your best bet to go to the vet.

Best of luck to her.
