Pharmaceuticals - microbiological testing in pharmaceuticals

Expert: Michael Anisfeld - 9/23/2008

Question
Can I get rid off Autoclave if I use 'ready to use media / plates/ tubes' in the microbiological laboratory ? If I use disposable sterile gowns would it be a concern for cross contamination?

Answer
JK:

I wish you could, but have you thought about how you will decontaminate the growth plates after testing (to destroy any colonies growing)?

It's a problem - speak to your Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) folks for their opinion.

Good Luck.
