Pharmaceuticals - Expiry dates for Drugs

Expert: Michael Anisfeld - 10/30/2006

Question
HI. I have the following in my medicine cabinet and I was wondering what the shelf life would be.
1.  Imovane bought in 2004
2.  Zoloft bought in 2004
3.  Celexa bought in 2005
4.  Clonazepam bought in 2005

Thank you, Glenda Rutka

Answer
Glenda:

Most drugs have a two year shelf life, so for the 2004 material - sorry, but junk it.

For the 2005 medication you might be oOK for another year, however your pharmacist should have written a "use before" date on the label - check, and follow the dating.

With best regards,
Mike
