Pharmaceuticals/Betadine Surgical Scrub

"Betadine Skin Cleanser" is the same product as "Betadine Surgical Scrub."  The scrub is packaged in large sizes and sold to hospitals & surgical supply dealers.  The cleanser is packaged for retail sales. Pharmacies are more likely to have the Skin Cleanser, but some may sell both. The scrub & cleanser are 7.5% povidone-iodine.

Yes, the veterinary product is identical to the human product; but due to labeling cannot be promoted or sold for human use (but many vets use it for handwashing, etc. as an off-label use). It contains 7.5% povidone-iodine.

Note: "Betadine Solution" has no detergents and is 10% povidone-iodine.  It will, of course, provide the antiseptic benefit, but will not perform as a cleanser.
