Question itook the 10oz bottle of magnesium sulfate and 4liter of peg for a colonoscopy prep and i was real tired all night and this morning, is this a side effect of the meds? or from fasting? thank you
Answer Dear Tiffany
This is a rather old fashioned regime for bowel washout as it can cause electrolyte imbalance which is related to tiredness!! Anyway you will feel tired due to the large amount of water lost as well as from the fasting. I suppose your colonoscopy is soon and then you will be able to tuck in to some food and drink. The washout period is much worse than the procedure so be glad this is over.
