Question Have heard some negative issues about Zetia......I would like you professional opinion in regard to the safety of Zetia............(ie. cancer causing potential)
Answer Dear Bob
Zetia should only be used in certain severe cases of hypercholesterolaemia and usually in combination with another drug such as a statin. It can on occasion cause muscle disorders especially when combined with a statin but there is believable studies which have ever implicated it in causing cancer. If your cholesterol levels are not being controlled by a statin, the addition Zetia can improve the long term outlook of some of the problems associated with high cholesterol levels.
