last week i took a tetanus immune globulin (tig ) shot after an accident on my hand.
i dont know why i had a bad thoughts about that shot if it transmit blood borne pathogens as hiv hbv hvc
the shot named tet human 250 iu made in france bellon
is that way to transmitt hiv or hcv

Tetanus immune globulin (TIG) is used to provide passive immunity to tetanus as part of a postexposure prophylaxis regimen following a tetanus-prone wound and also in the treatment of tetanus in conjunction with active immunization with tetanus toxoid adsorbed or anti-infective agents against Clostridium tetani respectively. It only provides short term protection due to passive immunization and is not a substitute for active immunization with tetanus toxoid adsorbed. For effective immunization you need tetanus toxoid adsorbed.

Answer Thanks for the pdf. During manufacture, donors are screened for any diseases, then various processes are used for inactivation of viruses and sterilization. So, practically there is no risk. But no process is fool proof. That's why the warning is written. Half life of the Immune globulin is 23 days which means its concentration in blood becomes half in 23 days. If you had taken the shot of tig because of any wound, it is enough for you. For protection from future infections,if you like, you can start tetanus toxoid immunization right now, but its not mandatory. It will be sufficient to take immunization as per the recommendations within 24 hours after having a wound.
