Question
Is there any particular reason why ibuprofen works well for me when I have a headache, but doesn't help my lower back pain at all?

Answer
Your lower back pain is probably due to tense and/or weak muscles of the lower back. The former can be treated by muscle relaxants and the later by exercise of the back. However, if the pain is severe, there could be a problem in your backbone or discs connecting them and you would require a stronger pain reliever than ibuprofen or, in the worse case, surgery.
