Question I've had some sort of virus since Wednesday. Today I woke up with chills and sweats. I checked my temperature and it said it was 103.5. That seems very high but I can't find any sort of range when I search ont he internet. Are there any medicines I can take to reduce it? What should I do? Thank you for your time.
Answer As an adult a fever of 103.5 is relatively high. You can take ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or aspirin to reduce your fever as long as you are not allergic to them. If you are under 16 you should not take aspirin. If the fever does not reduce with medication you may also try a cool bath. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. If the fever stays at that level for longer than 48 hours I would recommend that you call your doctor.
