About Nigel Simmons
Expertise
I am happy to answer general questions on medicines and hospital care. If possible, please use approved / chemical names rather than brands which are not internationally recognised. Like all health professionals I am bound by a duty of care which prevents me giving detailed information about medication or treatment of people other than the questioner. I will endeavour to help wherever possible or point towards more appropriate advice. If however your question crosses too far into patient confidentiality, I hope you will understand why I cannot answer your question. Consider.. would you want me to discuss your care with a friend or relative without your knowledge?

Experience
Registered as a UK pharmacist in 1982 and have worked in a number of hospital and health management posts around the UK. Formerly Chief Pharmacist for a 440 bed general hospital in Cambridgeshire.
Past/Present clients
Previously Sysop on CompuServe UK Professionals forum.

Question
I take...LISINOPRIL 20MG, PANTORPRAZOLE 40MG, XANAX 0.5MG,
PREVALITE 40GR, SINGULAR 10MG, REQUIP 3MG, COMBVINT PRN, and CLINDAMYCIN 150 (FOR DENTAL PROCEDURES.) My Doctor has now added: LYRICA 150MG, CHLORD/CLIDI 5-2MG. My questions are: Other than the 'PREVALITE' do I need to space any of these medicines? Are there any of these medicines that will
cause great problems if taken together? I have polycythemia and herditary hemochromatosis..will any of the new medicines cause problems with my blood? New medicines make me very nervous, any input you ma give me will be greatly appreciated...I am 56. Thank-You so much.Linda

Answer
Linda

While it is a complex range of products, there is no problem with taking any of them in a particular way. Use according to the prescribed instructions will be fine, but as you are aware it is important to try to avoid taking any medication at the same time as Prevalite because of the potential for reduced absorbtion. Taking medications at least an hour before the cholestyramine powder should prevent problems.

I hope this helps.
