Question
when will viagra be offered in generic form??

Answer
Drugs are given 18 years of patent protection from the time the manufacturer applies for the initial patent for the chemical entity.  This often is during research and development and before clinical trials begin.  Drug patents can also be modified and extended because of specific manufacturing processes which may be part of making the drug product.  There has not been a specific date set for the release of generic Viagra.  With extensions the estimated date is March of 2012.

Thanks

Barb Judge
