Expert: Dr Alan Galbraith - 1/31/2008

Question
QUESTION: Is it safe to or are their any dangers in taking Hydroxycut & acne Doxycycline together?  I am taking one for weight loss & one for acne.

ANSWER: Dear April

There should be no problem with this combination. I will point out that Hydroxycut is probably of no value in weight loss whatever the adverts say.

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick response but do you know of any diet pill that actually does work then?

Answer
Dear April

There is no easy way of losing weight and whatever method one takes, willpower is always the most important thing.

Depending upon where you live you may need a prescription for some preparations. The two most recognised drugs are orlistat, which prevents the absorption of fats from the gut and sibutramine which takes away some of your appetite. Other drugs such as phentermine and diethylproprion are stimulants and also decrease appetite but they can be addictive and often cause insomnia. Evidence suggests that the latter two when stopped the patient tends to quickly regain the weight lost.

Diet is very important with any method and a dietician is the best bet for advice.
