My Mom is 91 and very clear minded & takes only 100 mg of Cozaar in the morning. No other drugs. She walkks pretty well and drives to do her shopping.
Her cardiologist said to see her G.P. and the G.P. was quite indecisive to write the prescription for Cumadin but finally agree to, as the cardiologist had suggested.
I found information on the net and it scares me that if my Mom falls she could bleed very severely.
What should she watch out for and can she stop the medication if she decides to.
Thank you, I cannot find the information to make the right decision, and doctors are guarded to indecisive in their responses.
Answer Hi Lewis,
There are risks with Coumadin as you know. But for certain conditions it is still the best drug of choice. You did not tell me what it was prescribed for. I can tell you though that for atrial fibrillation it is the best drug of choice. It is aways a person's perogative to decline treatment and live with risk once they understand the risk.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc.Pharm
