Question
I am a 56 y.o. female with moderate osteoarthritis.  I have taken Ibuprofen for yrs but felt it had stopped being effective. My doctor prescribed Ultraset. Not receiving good relief I have been taking them together...800 mg Ibuprofen and 37.5mg/325mg (3 tabs) Ultraset. I take them together 2 times a day.  Is this harmful to me?  Am I inviting problems in the future?  My doctor does not know I am combining these medications.  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi,Martha,
It should be all right to take these together; there is no drug interaction involved. Just be sure to take them with food or milk to protect your stomach. Are these the only medications you are on? I would not exceed the dose you are taking, though. Hope this helps, Mary
