Question Hi, my surgeon put me on propoxy n-apap 100/650 after arthroscopic surgery on my knee. The knee has deteriorated since then and I asked the surgeon who will be doing the knee replacement for the same medication (I am very careful about addictive drugs, and researched the risks). The second surgeon has me on propoxyphen-APAP 100. Is there any difference between these two medications? I find the propoxy N seems to be stronger. Perhaps the effect is entirely imaginary. Thanks for any help.
Answer You are most likely on the same drug. I suspect you either had the 2 prescriptions filled at different pharmacies or the pharmacy where you filled the first prescription changed generic manufacturers since you filled the first prescription and that is why there is a slight difference in how the drug name is abbreviated and also could be a slight difference in the generic drugs efficacy. If the difference is significant for you then you know where to fill your prescriptions for this medication to get the generic which works best for you in the future.
