Question
Dear Doctor,

Recently I did a fisrts semen test and that concluded:
volume:2.4 ml, count 26 milj /ml  10% abnormal forms.

Also sinds a year a am taking coversyl 4mg (perindopril) and Natrilix SR (indapamide 1.5mg)to lower my bloodpressure.

Is there any effect from these medicines that can cause to decrease my sperm count.

Thank you for your answers in advance.

Answer
Hi Eduard,
There are many resasons for low sperm count. The foremost being age, physical condition, BP, and cardiac status. Incidentally WHO has revised the criteria to decide low sperm count. Under the new criteria, 26 mllion/ml is a good count, and anything below 20m/ml is considered low.
However the drugs you are taking have not been reported to reduce sperm count so we need to look at other reasons. My suggestion is that you have a talk with the doctor at the center where you got your sperm count done, he/she will be most knowledgeable and be able to help you best.
