Question
I've recently undergone pre-employment drug testing. The drug testing facility first administers an EMIT screen then sends positive or inconclusive samples to a lab for a CG/MS test. I currently posess a Medical Marijuana License in the state of California, but have refrained from smoking for 56 days prior to testing. I am also taking Atenolol and Lisinopril for Hypertension. My sample failed the screen and was sent to the lab, but was lost in transit. I have taken a re-test and again my sample had to be sent in for confirmation. I'm still awaiting the results from the lab. I was wondering if my Hypertension meds could be to blame? Or if it's possible that there still may be detectable traces of THC in my system?

Answer
Dear Chris

Sorry for the delay but the site has been down for some time.
Marijuana compounds can be detected up to six months after use. If you have been prescribed this legitimately there should be no problem with this. Your other medications should not interfere with the tests.

Regards

Dr Alan Galbraith
