About Nigel Simmons
Expertise
I am happy to answer general questions on medicines and hospital care. If possible, please use approved / chemical names rather than brands which are not internationally recognised. Like all health professionals I am bound by a duty of care which prevents me giving detailed information about medication or treatment of people other than the questioner. I will endeavour to help wherever possible or point towards more appropriate advice. If however your question crosses too far into patient confidentiality, I hope you will understand why I cannot answer your question. Consider.. would you want me to discuss your care with a friend or relative without your knowledge?

Experience
Registered as a UK pharmacist in 1982 and have worked in a number of hospital and health management posts around the UK. Formerly Chief Pharmacist for a 440 bed general hospital in Cambridgeshire.
Past/Present clients
Previously Sysop on CompuServe UK Professionals forum.

Subject: higher hgh levels

Question
since hgh helps teenager gorw taller i was woundering if i am still growing in hieght if i were to take arginine would it increase my hgh levels enough for it to make me much taller then my predicted hieght, if i took it over time

Answer
Adawe

My advice is not to take anything unless it is recommended by a doctor who has done a detailed assessment of your general health, bone patterns and hormone levels.

Inappropriate use of growth promoting products may lead to deformities, somewhat defeating the intended purpose. For example, if one leg bone has stopped growing and the other is in the process of stopping, then stimulating growth could make one resume growth and the other not.

If you are on target for your predicted height, then I would be satisfied with that. Excessive height may have some perceived advantages, but can result in real problems in later life.

I hope this helps.
