Subject: inderal la 60 and pregnant
Question i am so confused, I am 5 weeks pregnant and have taken inderal la 60 for almost 2 years for hyperthyroid, my doctor told me to stop taking it immediatly when i told him i was pregnant, so i asked a pharmasist about it because i was told never to stop cold turkey, he said to continue to take it and be weened off but inderal la 60 is the lowest dose there is so how would i do that or should i just stop taking it like my doctor said, i asked him again about it and he said just stop taking it not to worry about it, but i don't want to stop and have a heart attack and i don't want to continue it and hurt my baby, what should i do, i also talked to my obgyn and they said i had to talk to my doctor that perscriped it. please help
Answer Hi Spring,
Inderal does not correct hyperthyroidism. It manages symptoms associated with hyperthytidism. The warning regarding stopping it suddenly is in order to avoid angina attacks for those taking it for angina. You sre probsbly taking it to control your heart rhythm and hypertension. There are other drugs used to control these symptoms. Ask you doctor if you should have substitute medication for Inderal or are your symptoms mild enogh to not need any replacement med.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
