Question I used to take Zoloft, Depakote, and Seroquil. Now I take Prozac, Mellaril, and Trazadone. Is it safe to combine these medications together? I have read on the internet that mellaril and prozac are not good, and I am worried. I simply cannot function without medication though. The reason why I switched my medicine is to afford the walmart brands.
Thank You,
Jessica
Answer Dear Jessica
It can be problematic if Melleril and Prozac are taken concurrently as it has the potential to produce heart problems. However, if your response is monitored it is usually OK to proceed with long term therapy. Voice your concerns to your prescriber who should be able to advise. I will say the likelihood of a problem is low but it must be borne in mind.
