Expert: Dr. Tara Kompare, Pharm.D. Date: 2/5/2008 Subject: side effect when taking lexapro the having to doses of nyquil d
Question i recently got pulled ove after i had taken my dose of lexapro, i had mixed it with a doule dose of nyquil. considering i haven't been able to really eat the most i eat is maybe a meal if that a day. could you blow high in a breathalizer after mixxing the 2, causing the cop to think you were drinking? i was started to fall the asleep at the wheel, got pulled over agreed to do a breathalizer and blew a .13 is that possible? the warning on the lexapo box prohibts you to drink alcohol with it. can nyquil ahve that high of an effect?
Answer Dear Stacey,
It is possible the double dose of nyquil you took caused you to blow such a high breath test especially if you did so on an empty stomach. Exactly how much alcohol would depend on the exact dose you took. Nyquil is known to have a high alcohol content and you should never drive after taking it although I am sure you realize that now!
The combined sedative effects of nyquil along with your lexapro most likely contributed to your falling asleep at the wheel.
