Subject: valium vs. xanax

Question
Hello i have fibro and degen. arthritus in my spine, i also have had chronic anxiety for at least ten years i have tried xanax and have noticied i dont feel great the next day if i dont take one i have also taken the 10 mg valium and it seems to work much better but which is more dangerous health and dependency wise? Im thinking about switching over to the valium what do you think???

Answer
Both Valium and Xanax share approximately equal potential for dependency and addiction.  Valium does have a few more possible drug interactions, so if you take multiple medications it would be in your best interest to stay with Xanax is most situations.  Any change of medication should be discussed with the doctor who has prescribed the medication since he/she knows your complete medical history.

Thanks
