Subject: Antibiotics
Question This past week I was diagnosed with diverticulitis with abscess. Put on Flagyl and Levaquin - out patient. After 3 days (Friday) had severe reaction to Flagyl and had to stop taking. Continued with Levaquin. Called on call Doc who prescribed Amox-Clav to take along with Levaquin. Can you take these 2 antibiotics together?
Answer HI,Sandy,
Levaquin can be taken with amox-clav,just don't take the Levaquin with antacids or vitamin/mineral supplements because minerals such as calcium and iron can inactivate it. Both can be taken with or without food, but if amox-clav bothers your stomach, take it with food. Hope this helps, Mary
