Question QUESTION: I have high blood pressure aparently from taking one OTC Ibuprofin for a ruptured disc. What blood pressure medication will counteract high blood pressure caused by Ibuprofin?
ANSWER: Hi Steve,
A link between infrequent use of ibuprofen and hypertension has been demnstrated for older women. I would suggest you watch your BP before you plan to sue any drug for that. While taking iuprofen there is no need to take a drug to counter the possibility of hypertension.

QUESTION: I reviewed my question and need to start again. I take one OTC Ibuprofin A DAY for a ruptured disc problem. I read about Ibuprofin causing high blood pressure which I have. I take Benicar 40 mg and Metoprolo ER25 mg, Toprolxl 25 mg per day and still have high blood pressure. How does Ibuprofin cause high blood pressure (water retention?) and what meds would counteract that? I was on benicar with a diuretic but was getting dehidrated and still had high blood pressure.
Thanks,
Steve
Answer Hi Steve,
Thanks for the clarificaton. But there are still some questons that now have. Earlier I had thought that you are nt hypertensive and only wish to take preventive action, that is clearl not the case.
I want to knw if you have been on BP medication before you began ibuprofen and was the control adequate?
Has the BP gone out of control since you began ibuprofen?
What is yor age? Do you have any other complications, such as diabetes?
Your doctor has adviced you metoprolol and toprol? Is that right, I would like to have details.
In my opinion the issue does not seem to be hypertension caused by ibuprofen but uncontrolled hypertension, is my assumption right?
