Question My son took 800 mg Tegretol for bipolar for 20 yrs until
he was hospitalized last year.
One of the medications he was recently prescribed was Prozac
Upon taking this, he experienced obsessive thoughts for about 1-2 hrs/day. Prozac was switched to Luvox 2 weeks ago, but he is experiencing same obsessive thoughts. This
is a new symptom for him...can it be caused by Prozac or Luvox?? Thanking you in advancedlc8f
Answer Hi Frances,
While nobody can be totally sure of the cause, my guess would be that Prozac is responsible for the problems. I would suggest you bring this to the notice of your doctors, so that they can think about changing the treatment of your son.
