Subject: Niaspan

Question
I had a reaction to Niaspan, broke out in a rash and itched all over. I actually lost conscienous. When I convinced by my doctor that I really needed the Niaspan I started to take it again with the same results. Have you ever had anyone complain of this result when taking this drug.

Answer
Hi,Toby,
If you are not taking an aspirin 30-60 minutes before the Niaspan, you should definitely do this. It really cuts down on the flushing and rash. Also, it helps to start with the lowest dose and work you way up so your body can get used to it. Hope this helps, Mary
