Hi Tammy,
Antibiotic treatment for flu-like symptoms caued by bacteria require 7-10 day treatment. The person should start to feel better after the third day of treatment. Symptoms cause by a virus are not treatable with antibiotics. These need often resolve themselves and sometimes may need antiviral agents.
