Question my doctor has had me off work because of my back and he has me on oxycotin80mg and xanax 2mg.I take the oxycotin 2 80mg twice a day and the xanx 3 times a day. I have took several drugs test for my local union and they have always showed just the oxycotin and the xanax that I was prescribed over 2 years ago and I have been taking them everyday for more than 2 years at my doctors advice.I just took a drug test for my doctor because he has started anew policy and he test his patiences now.Well about 4 or 5 days later I get a letter in the mail saying that there was no xanax in my drug test and high levels of cocaine and I have never done cocaine in my life. The letter also said he could not be my doctor any more and now I have noway to get my meds that he put me on over two years ago and I have been told that you cant stop taking these meds all at once. I know 100% sure that that drug test was not wright because I have never ever done cocaine in my life and I took my prescribed meds (xanax and oxycotin a few hours before a was test. the also never put my urine sample in a sealed bag and have me initial it like everyone else has when I was ever test. Also they collect my urine and sent me the letter about 4 days later and the bill for the urine test was 337 dollars.CAN THEY EVEN GET THE RESULTS BACK THAT FAST WHEN IT WAS SENT TO DALLS,TX FROM INDINAPOLIS,IN AND ALSO that is PRETTY COSTLY FOR A URINE DRUG SCREEN. I hope you can help me with this matter. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Answer Hi Jeff,
From your letter it appears you are in US, I am an Indian working in India. Though I have visited US in the past and do so quite often I am not sure about the law in the US. However there are some laws which are common through out the world and I can advice you only on the basis of these laws.
What has been done to you is a clear cut violation of human rights and I think it is grossly wrong. I am rather surprised that such a thing can happen in the US. Such things do happen in Africa but US is a civilized country and such a thing is wrong.
Firstly I do not think you should have to pay for a test you do not want. Secondly it is not right for a doctor to refuse to treat you for any reason, it is against medical ethics. If I were in your place I would fight against it, if necessary I would go to the court and bring the system down. I have received a lot of letters like yours and it seems that this is the practice in the US to test people and refuse treatment on the basis of results that may not be right. I would personally suggest you fight it.
To keep quiet when injustice is done is a crime, so please go out and find a lawyer who will fight the case for you. There are good people out there who will fight for you without charging a penny, you have to find the right person. But please do not keep quiet, fight it.
