Question
I'm prescribed with my family doctor with this antibiotic. I've already taken 30 capsule last month January and stop taking in the month of February, now, suddenly, i got skin allergy and my feet and hands are so itchy , since i still have 2x fill so i make a refill.
Now, when I started to take it again, i found out that when I take this antibiotic, my feel will be very itchy and my hands and i just found it out last night that after 3 or 5 minutes taking this antibiotic my feet and hands start is so itchy and i can't sleep.
And same time, im loosing of appetite.

Dr. My question is do i have to stop taking this medicine? Is it side effects of this medicine? or am I allergy to this medicine?
Please , i really need to have your answer.

Thank you so much and more power!

Answer
Dear Yam

It sounds very like that you have an allergy to doxycycline and possibly to all tetracycline like antibiotics. I presume that you are taking it for acne and would suggest you stop this drug immediately and be prescribed another antibiotic either topical clindamycin or erythromycin or oral erythromycin. Your doctor may prescribe something else.

Regards

Dr Alan Galbraith
