Question I am 26 weeks pregnant and I have been taking 1 vicodin ES a day for back problems prescribed by my doctor. Do you feel this has hurt my baby in any way?
Answer Hi Heather,
Vicodin is not prescribed for pregnant patients. This is not because it is unsafe, but because its safety has not been proved. It is in pregnancy category C. This means as follows:
Category C. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. VICODIN Tablets should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
I would suggest you bring the risk of the drug to the notice of your doctor.
