If I am taking diovan hct 160/mg tab nov and Nifedical, I get an reaction from them,so far I have not but I want to know.

Hi,Ann!
It is all right to take these meds together. Diovan HCT is a combination drug which contains valsartan (a high blood pressure med) and hydrochlorothiazide (a diuretic, or water pill).
Nifedical contains nifedipine (another high blood pressure med).
There are some precautions to take while on this med.
1)get up slowly from a sitting/lying position to avoid dizziness
2)you should not eat grapefruit/drink grapefruit juice while on this-compounds in grapefruit affect the metabolism of the drug
3) avoid herbs such as St John's wort,garlic supplements,dong quai, ephedra,ginseng
4/ Take your blood pressure at least weekly-letting your doctor know if it goes below 120/80
