There are 2 types of Indapamide available. One is Indapamide SR 1.5 and another one is Indapamide 2.5. I would like to know both are same and lastly which one is Ok. I shall be grateful if you can resolve the query Tnaks and Rgds
Answer Dear Harisiddh
SR stands for Slow or Sustained Release and it has been shown that this preparation is as good at lowering blood pressure as the 2.5 mg immediate release tablets. It seems anomalous that 1.5 mg is as good as the 2.5 preparation but trials have shown this to be so. Obviously it is therefore better to use the lower dose sustained release preparation as it being of a lesser dose has little or none adverse effects. Potassium levels in the blood are also less likely to be adversely affected which is good news.
I hope this is understandable, if not, get back to me.
