Subject: Medications/ possible allergic reaction

Question
I am taking Zoloft, Synthroid, Wellbutrin and also a multivitamen pack which contains Multivitamen/Mineral,Fish Oil with Omega3&6, Vit C with Bioflavinoids, Calcium with Vit D B-Complex Chromium Picolinate along with Pro Air HFA inhailer.. I ended up getting Bronchitits and was perscribed Doxicycoline. I have since felt my cough has become worse and now I experience shortness of breath sometimes. Could there have been an allergic reaction to this combination of meds?

Answer
It is always possible that you could be allergic to a medication.  If you have recently added one of these medications or changed medications that is where I would start looking for the possible candidate for what could be causing the reaction.  Since you have been diagnosed with bronchitis it very well could be that infection that is causing your cough and shortness of breath.  Those are both common symptoms of bronchitis.  It they have not improved with the prescription of doxycycline I would recommend calling your doctor to let him/her know your symptoms are not improving.  You can then discuss whether it is the infection or an allergic reaction which is causing the worsening of your symptoms with your doctor.

Thanks
