Question why paracetamol not very effective as anti-inflammatory if compare with ibuprofen, aspirin or other NSAID? what is the different between them? are they different in their receptors?
Answer Hi Janti,
NSAIDs act by inibiting the COX enzyme of which there are two types. Type I is concerned with renal blood flow and gastric PG formation. Type II s concerned wth inflammation. Some agents like paracetamol have greater action on Type than type II. Additionall paracetamol enters the brain more than other NSADIs. That is why paracetamol is less effective as an antiinflammatory drug compared to others.
