Question Dear Barbara,
Friday night my fiance had a seizure from alcohol withdrawal. Today is Monday and I just brought him home from detox and he is now on antibuse.
I read about some of the everyday things that can cause a reaction and it scared the death out of me.
Things like I can't use hairspray in our bathroom, no cakes or pies because of the extracts, no vinegar in dressings.
Can he really get a reaction from pie?
I'm scared to death. Is there a place where I can print a more complete list of things to avoid?
Thank you so much for your time!
Cathy
Answer I can not locate any comprehensive list of foods and other substances you should avoid. You will just have to become very, very, very vigilant about readint every label of every product that is either intended as food or for application directly to the skin or mucous membranes. Any form of alcohol applied to the skin, eaten, or applied to the mucous membranes, such as mouth wash, must be alcohol free. Fortunately commercially produced foods must list theor active ingredients.
