Expert: Eric Brandt Date: 4/10/2008 Subject: expired septra
Question I was given a prescription for Septra late today and haven't had a chance to get to the pharmacy yet. I just found a bottle of the Septra in my medincine cabinet from last year (I didn't end up taking it at the time) and was wondering if I could use these. (Same dosage). They are about 15 months old. Are they still potent? Thanks.
Answer Hi Amy,
Depending on the storage conditions they may still be good. They should have been kept in a cool dry place (not the bathroom nedicine cabinet). Also check with the pharmacy you got them from as to the expiry date of their current stock. If it is longer than 15 months then yours are probably ok to use provided you stored them as described above.
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
