Question I am a pharm tech and was asked this question on a test today: 15mg of levothyroxine is needed, you have only 100mcg,50mcg,and 25 mcg tablets on hand. list 3 different ways of dispencing 1 dose of 15 mg
Answer Hi,Shauna,
Are you sure you have the decimals in the right place? That seems like an awful lot of levothyroxine.
An average dose of levothyroxine is 0.15mg. 15mg would be ten times the dose.
Looking at the question, 150mcg is equal to 0.15mg.
If it is supposed to be 0.15mg,then you could use:
100mcg + 50mcg
100mcg + 2 tablets of 25mcg
2 tablets of 50mcg +2 tablets of 25mcg
Hope this helps, Mary
Good luck in your test!
