Expert: Eric Brandt Date: 4/13/2008 Subject: neurontin
Question a family member recently was prescribed neurontin, and subsequently tested positive on a drug screen for "opioids" - there were no other changes to normal drug routine. Could neurontin have caused the positive result or could it interact with other meds such as effexor to cause this?
Answer Hi Sandra,
I am not aware of Neurontin causing false positive in opioid screening test. Please check with the lab performing the test if this is a possibility. They would have a list of drugs that can lead to false positive readings.
Thank you for using Allexperts
