Subject: Klonopin & results ona UDS
Question Mr. Brandt,
Could you provide any information as to how a UDS provided by a patient in our practice, to her Nursing School prior to admission could have resulted in her prescribed Klonopin showing as another benzodiazepine and did not show signs of Klonopin? We know this patient well and there is no indication whatsoever of her using, abusing, or altering her prescription. She is 21 and has been very responsible regarding her response to treatment, etc. She was denied admission because the results showed a benzodiazepine other than Klonopin.
Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Answer Hi Beth,
You need to ask this question of the lab performing the test. Can they distinguish between clonazepam and other benzodiazepines? Is ther a specific test for Clonazepam? Have they identified the other benzodiazpine? What other substances can cause false positive for that which they identified?
Thank you for using Allexperts
Sincerely,
Eric Brandt, B.Sc. Pharm
